Samay Raina is a stand-up comedian and online chess game broadcaster from India. He is well-known for his open mic stand-ups and for being a co-winner of Comicstaan alongside Akash Gupta.

Samay Raina was born on October 26, 1997, to a Kashmiri Pandit family in Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir. However, because to safety concerns, his family was forced to leave their birthplace and go to New Delhi. They relocated to Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, after a few years. Samay attended school in Hyderabad and earned a bachelor's degree in printing engineering from the Pune Vidhyarthi Griha College of Engineering and Technology.

Samay has a terrific sense of comedy and a keen sense of observation. In college, he began his stand-up comedy career on an open-mic stage. In the beginning, he performed on the college campus, and eventually he performed outside of the college bounds. He began performing as a professional comedian in Pune after participating in various open-mics. After gaining popularity and progress, he began playing in several locations around the country.

Comicstaan season 2 on Amazon Prime became a watershed moment in his career. Samay eventually shared the competition's victory. He took the stage alongside comedian Aakash Gupta.

During the Covid-19 epidemic, when all outdoor performances are cancelled. Raina launched a YouTube account where he broadcasts online chess games. According to Samay's remark on his channel, comedian Tanmay Bhatt recommended he stream a chess game online. Samay began streaming alongside other comedians such as Tanmay Bhatt, Akash Gupta, and others. However, Samay gained popularity after inviting YouTube sensation Antonio Radic, whose channel is called Agadmator.

After his channel grew rapidly, Indian grandmaster Vidit Gujrathi approached him and invited him to appear on his show, which Samay accepted, giving his channel a boost. Many chess veterans, including Vishwanathan Anand, Anish Giri, and Baskaran Adhiban, praise his efforts to promote chess in India through his channel.
